Pervez was the only brother of six sisters who were killed by savage beasts.+ On 14 February 2022, a mob of Muslims attacked LDA Quarters in Lahore and brutally assaulted a Christian youth, Pervez Masih son of Liaqat Masih. Leading Christians in such a situation also petitioned the police station factory area for protection of life and property. However, the concerned police did not take timely action and registered the case late.
The result of the incompetence and negligence of the police was that on the afternoon of 14th February, the accused attacked and killed Pervez Masih again and the police continued to play the role of silent spectator.
It may be recalled that the police station factory area is a few acres away from the scene of the incident and the police could not save precious lives despite the advance notice of escalation of fighting and the application against the accused.
According to Minorities Alliance Pakistan, a Christian political organization, their eight-member delegation visited LDA Quarters Lahore. Discussed the incident and tried to find out the facts behind the seriousness of the situation.
According to Minorities Alliance Pakistan, the tragic incident has its roots in the 2013 tragedy when a local church was attacked in LD Quarters B Block and partially vandalized and desecrated the church by armed men. A Quarter covers two blocks A and B, Block A has Muslim population and Block B has Christian population and has more than 1000 Christian families while Muslim families are less than Christian.
Since the insults and attacks on the local church in 2013, tensions between Christians and Muslims have persisted to this day, and criminal, drug-dealing elements continue to harass and harass local Christians in the colony. This is not the first time that a regular armed group has been attacked by local Muslims. The attacks have been carried out six to seven times in the past years. The only difference is that this time the attack killed Pervez Masih. Hate and prejudice based on religion.
Protecting the lives and property of Christians in Pakistan is the responsibility of the government. Provide justice to the sisters soon.
